I’m here to thank you for playing, criticizing, and supporting BrazSonic 20XX, a project that started in 2019 with a short demo, right during the pandemic, with just me as the project’s creator and programmer.
The game was born as a reboot of the 2004 BrazSonic, which is already outdated today, and also a sequel that was going to happen at that time but never happened. The idea of BrazSonic 20XX was to create a new universe, with more entertaining characters, a more convincing plot, and an actual antagonist, Dr. Corruptnik.
Over time, the game evolved massively, with more and more zones, history, and new content, which brought a lot of authenticity and personality to the project. Initially, the game would only count with 7 zones and 3 playable characters: BrazSonic, PeloTails, and Bahianuckles.
Unfortunately, even during all this development time, I wasn’t able to put everything I wanted in the game into practice, and I also had very few testers and time to test before the game’s launch in September 2023, for SAGE (Sonic Amateur Games Expo) that inevitably led me into a development hell!
On the other hand, I have a lot to thank the Discord community for all the post-launch support, especially @matheus_msp_lucena_oficial and @GUIRetroNexusXG for the latest beta tests; to the talented multiartist @Xtuart for the beautiful designs present in the game (title screen, title card are some examples), @PVicVG for helping me with the Discord server and technical feedback that changed the game itself for the better, more technical feedback from @CharemTheShadox, SonicOz, and StarWizard on GameJolt and Youtube, and also other people.
As for the future of BrazSonic, the Android version is underway, but with no set date, as the focus on it is performance, which will require reducing phases and optimizing a lot of things. Regarding the Windows version, there will be new updates, especially because there are still some bugs out there.
Time also passed, and my focus changed.
And that’s about it, and everything will be fine!
See you next year guys!
Happy 2024!
