SAGE 2023: BrazSonic 20XX comeback

Hello BrazSonic fans!

It’s been a while, a long time since I posted here, but I have great news about the BrazSonic 20XX project.

Lately, due to my less and less free time due to work, I haven’t had much time to work on the game anymore. To avoid the same mistakes as in the past, I had to make more strategic decisions in the project, as it even passed the delivery time, which would have been at the beginning of this year, that is, there were things that I really wanted to have, but I had to finish cutting and changing/adapting for more viable and realistic ones. I also wish I had invested more time interacting with the community as I did many years ago, but unfortunately, it ended up not happening :(.

On the other hand, all this change, which in itself was quite tiring and chaotic, ended up accelerating the completion of the project, only this time for the final version, and for real. Well, it’s been a few years working on it to revive an artistic production that honors the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, from SEGA, and also the indie and homebrew scene that’s been part of our lives for years!

This year, as usual, SAGE (Sonic Amateur Game Expo) takes place, a Sonic fangame event, which is already in its 23rd edition, and has contributed positively not only to gaming but also to the formation of communities, authorial productions, and even commercials such as Spark the Electric Jester, Pizza Tower and Freedom Planet series. And of course, we can’t forget that without the fangame scene, there would have been Sonic Mania, which was born from the Retro Sonic Engine, made for fans, which changed the course of the blue hedgehog franchise for the better. This year, the event will take place between the 1st and 8th of September.

With each passing year, the repertoire of games only improves, with productions from 2D to incredible 3D games like those AAAs for consoles and gamer PCs. Also, not only Sonic who lives SAGE, we have fangames of Mario, and Megaman no less interesting. And of course, the increasingly better and fun authorial productions. What goes unnoticed here is the visual identity inspired by Nights Into Dreams, a Sonic Team masterpiece that marked generations and already has 27 years of existence.

BraSonic has already been in the 2008 editions (as BraSonic 2) and more recently those of 2020 and 2021, with playable demos, which had a good reception from the public. Last year, I ended up not participating in the event, but this year BraSonic is back, albeit a little late (so much so that I couldn’t send a video to SAGE’s trailer). It’s good to be back!

There will be new stuff in next days

See ya!
